Yangshuo Nocturne

I just got back from a painting trip to China and Hong Kong where I taught a workshop. I painted this oil painting at dusk on a busy street in Yangshuo, Guilin. The red flags hanging outside the shops on the street created an interesting pattern of repeated red shapes, and a nice warm/cool contrast. I painted it very loosely to convey the hustle and bustle of the lively street.
